i have a 2005 kawasaki zx636.... my clutch cable suddenly snapped.... does anyone know why??? too tight??? how should it be?? and also is it easy to change it??? thanks
How do I change the clutch cable on my motorcycle?
Clutch cables break, it's a part of life. Not a big deal. Order a new clutch cable, disconnect the old, pull it out, pull the new one in, connect, adjust.
When I did mine I taped a cord to the old cable. Pulled the old cable out, used the cord to pull the new cable in. Didn't have to take anything off the bike.
How do I change the clutch cable on my motorcycle?
i remember something similar to that in a two wheel tuner mag. recently i dont remember what they said about tho. good luck on fixing it. sry i couldnt help. but if you get 2wt try checkin in there i think it was like 3 months ago maybe?
You probably haven't been doing your maintenance, you have to keep the cables lubed...
Changing the cable isn't a big deal, take the broken one off and put the new one on.....
clutch cable is easy to change but the adjustment needs to be right if you do not know how to do it find someone who does

Should i use the clutch to change gears on my dirtbike?
Im very experienced rider and im talking about a 1998 husky 250WR 2 stroke. Once im going, if i change for example from 3rd - 4th - 5th u know will i wreck my bike if im not using the clutch? do i HAVE to use the clutch because its hard to take it easy %26amp; use clutch to change gears on a 2 stroke cos its full on with powerband u know
Should i use the clutch to change gears on my dirtbike?
you can listen to these other people but if you want to keep your bike you will use the clutch I'm in the process of rebuilding my Cr250 i thought i didn't need the clutch and i was wrong. these transmission systems are hardened aluminum and friction and heat destroy them. take care of the bike and use the clutch or get an old '84 Honda 250R ATC pull the tranny set it in a Cr 250 and this will give you a semi automatic system where holding the shifter up or down is the same as pulling the clutch it takes some work to build the bike but you can run it into the ground and not have to worry about it breaking. good luck!!!
Should i use the clutch to change gears on my dirtbike?
No, you just don't want to shift at full throttle. They are made to be shifted on the fly. The clutch is just for starting out.
motorcycles use whats known as a constant mesh transmission, no clutch is required between shifts.
You are very experienced but you think you might wreck if you shift gears without the clutch...hmmmm. No, you do not need to use the clutch when shifting gears on a 1998 Husqvarna 250WR.

How do I change the whole clutch system in an 1996 Toyota Tercell?
I also need to know where to find the parts I would need. Well, my car lacks serious power in acceleration. I can hear the motor reving up but my car crawls to reach a desirable speed. Sometimes something catches on and I have good acceleration, but most of the time it doesn't. I simply assume that it is a problem in the clutch system. If anyone has any suggestions, please post them here.
How do I change the whole clutch system in an 1996 Toyota Tercell?
yeah clutch for sure, go to like napa or somewhere like that and get a clutch, throw-out bearing, and pilot bearing. Pull your tranny remove the cluth assy, remove the flywheel take it to a machine shop that machines flywheels then put it all back on, easy as makin a pie.

Volvo 850 2.5 clutch slip or traction control?
hi ,im certain its cluch slip but could a fault with the traction control have the same effect ? switching tracs on or off dos'nt seem to do any thing ,i have no idea how or what it does so i wanted to rule this out before striping anything,
theres no oil leak so i dont expect clutch end oil seal to be the cause ,im guessing but i think car has been used to pull a caravan ,is it possible to change clutch plate whithout splitting emgine and gear box
Volvo 850 2.5 clutch slip or traction control?
the traction control on this model will apply the brake to the wheel that is spinning that doesn't sound like what is happening for you
while i have not had to replace an 850 clutch. i have had numerous automatics out for torque convertor seal replacement [both turbo and normally asperated] it is much easier[and faster] to remove the engine and transmission together as a unit with the wiring harnesses still on them from the top
than to be squirreling around underneath pulling subframes, hanging the engine etc.
[the wiring harness seperates inside the computer box, ac will have to be drained and tube removed from rt. front corner of engine bay and rt.headlamp assembely must be removed on some models.
a cherry picker type engine hoist and a adjustable [tilts engine/trans as it comes out]
lifting bracket must be used [the auto boxes have a rubber slap mount on the left subframe that must be removed/renewed for clearance] [20 dollars east coast u.s.]
the manual trans model may not have one at all.
once all is out, they can be split normally [one last note if you replace the rear main engine seal make a driver out of a piece of pcv plastic pipe to ensure the new seal goes in perfectly square].
the first time i did this i beat the standard repair time by more than a couple hours. the added bonus of doing it this way is that other services can be accomplished in minuites instead of extra hours [ie: timing componants, water pump, additional tune up services, throttle body cleanout etc.]
one last note get a good shop manual for your car and study it thouroghly before starting this project and while it can be accomplished by one person it is best to have a spotter while doing the removing and installing part, as body clearances are tight. beer is not recommended until after the test drive.
Volvo 850 2.5 clutch slip or traction control?
If the engine revs rise up when your driving and the engines under load the its your clutch.Dont panic ,the volvo 850 is an easy box to remove.Disconect the exhaust first then remove prop shaft, remove the gearbox mounting and let the engine tip back to give you room to get the top bell housing bolts. If you havnt got use of a ramp or a pit, jack it up high and put 4 axle stands under it.Use the jack to lower the gearbox, youll need someone to help you with this,so buy a crate of beer and get some mates round.Get a manual it will explain about lining the new clutch up and any other unforseen difficultys
They're completely different symptoms: If th engine note rises, it's clutch slip - the TCS system cuts the throttle.
The clutch is between engine %26amp; gearbox, so you'll have a hell of a job changing it without splitting them - can all be done in car though, I think.
it needs a new clutch...sorry gearbox has to come off to change...on some early vauxhalls you could replace the clutch with out removing the box...but not on the volvo...loreal hair vc

Gearbox/clutch problem in fiesta?
Bought ford fiesta encore 16v 1.25l 1998
After 2 day couldn put gears and i see that one of the liquids is lrunning out.
Mechanic told me that this lick is in gearbox and he have to open it and fix plus is good to change clutch as well.
He told me that becouse of that gearbox it will cost me 250-300pounds inc.labor.
Anyone seen that problem b4 and is it really so expensive?
Not sure he dont want to rip me off my money.
An ideas?
Gearbox/clutch problem in fiesta?
Bad design to put the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder inside the bell housing otherwise it wouldn't cost more than 拢20-拢30.If the gearbox needs to be removed then about 4 hours work all told so Desert Camel is accurate with his price. If you have a new clutch,a slave cylinder or washer repair kit and clutch fluid then it wouldn't be far off the quote you,ve been given with VAT added.Perhaps you wont need a new clutch but if you are keeping the car it would be wise to have one if the old one is quite worn
Gearbox/clutch problem in fiesta?
firstly your clutch pedal do's this feel normal ? is it softer that before ? i feel that the amount you have been quoted is very high ,if the clutch pedal feels softer then i would think that the thrust bearing has leaked all the fluid but you don't say what the Colour of the Fluid leaking out is ? this could be gearbox oil , then in this case i would replace the gearbox if the gear box housing has a hole in it i would recommend you get a second opinion , are u a member of the aa , or rac , they would be the people to ask what the problem is ,or find a garage that has been recommend by a good friend , it sounds odd to me because the labour will be more if you want a clutch change, and fluid topped up and a release bearing ,i hope this helps
bit steep, but he may be correct...the zitec fiesta has a hydraulic clutch, its inside the clutch bell housing, and yes the box has to come off to get to it.part itself will only be around 拢20,...it may pay you to also replace the full clutch if its been contaminated with brake/clutch fluid.]
get quotes from other, backstreet garages...dont pay more than 拢125 labour.
sounds like you need check out hydrolic clutch may be leaking, worst thing ford brought out, still wont be that dear, get second quote
It is always advisable to get a second quote or major work like this.
Ja.

How much cost to change transmission and clutch?
Hi i was wondering if anybody knows how much it would cost to change a transmission and clutch in a 1998 mitsubishi eclipse gs? also i was wonderin if the company would have a tow truck to tow my car and would it be extra or if i let them do the job it would be free? pleasee help and let me know a rough estimateee thank you
How much cost to change transmission and clutch?
It would depend if you wanted a new transmission or a used one. I would guess the following:
Clutch $150 to $200
Transmission $ 500 to $800 used
Transmission $1600 to $1800 new
Installation $400 to $500
So I would say the least is $1050 to go with a used trans and a decent new clutch.
And yes, most places charge towing in any case.
How much cost to change transmission and clutch?
I dont know excatly how much but i estimate around 1,200 to 2,000.....and im pretty sure their gonna charge you for the towing...
Is the shop transmission rebuilder? Are they putting in a used or rebuilt tranny? Rebuild yours? 1500 - 2400
The towing's on you ,probably

1990 Ford Fiesta needing clutch changed and I have a ?
Does the motor have to be removed as it sits in there side ways?
1990 Ford Fiesta needing clutch changed and I have a ?
Un like the other know it alls here you do not have to remove the engine
The trans can be remover and the cluch replaced. It is not easy but it can be done . You must pull the wheels, support the body, pull the axels, support the engine and then pull the trans.
There is a lot more to it and it is not a job for the week end mechanic but it can be done.
1990 Ford Fiesta needing clutch changed and I have a ?
It'll probably cost you more to fix that then the car is worth.
The motor and transmission both have to be removed from the car for repair.
No. Just like any other car with a manual transmission, the transmission has to be separated from the engine. If a mechanic is trying to B.S. you into thinking you have to pay them extra for removing the engine, then go find a honest mechanic, (not an easy task.) Some cars you have to take off the following wheel and swing it out of the way in order to pull the transmission away from the engine. Others you have to remove the motor mounts and transmission mount to get it off.
Make sure the flywheel gets turned, too.
You can pull just the transmission and put the clutch in. With the right tools its not that hard.
No not usually. They have a lot to disassemle though, And have to support the engine with jackstands if the transmission had brackets and helps support the motor. That's about it
