How do i change the clutch cable on my kawasaki ltd 550?

Step one-get the repair manual

Step two-follow the step by step directions and photos given there.

Now gathering that the above is too much to ask- here goes

Turn the handlebar adjuster all the way in. Locate on the lower engine outter case the cable-usually on the lower right side. Take 2 wrenches of appropriate size and remove the cable from where it attaches thru the case clamp. Then unhook the end from the pivot lever. Now remove the cable from up at the handlebars, after carefully noting how it was run under the gas tank.

starting with the handlebar end-install the cable, then reroute it exactly the same way the old one was under the tank, or along the frame-which ever, and loosen the adjuster nuts on the lower end of the cable and feed it thru the case clamp. Now fish the end and hook it into the pivot lever. Now for the adjustment.-

You need to make major adjustments down at the case and finese adjustments at the handlebars. The object here is to get the ball end of the lever so it has no more than 1/4%26quot; movement. Adjust the cable using the 2 nuts -one on either side of the case clamp till this is acheived. Then finese adjust at the handlebar adjuster

Hope this helps
