Get answers from millions of real people. I have a 1991 Dodge Dakota that I need to change the clutch?

I will need to remove the transmission and I have been told that I will need to remove the torsion bars at the front. This sound a little out of the ordinary. Please advise.

Sounds a little odd but you really need to list what motor you have?

4 Cylinders G 2.5L TBI

6 Cylinders X 3.9L FI

8 Cylinders Y 5.2L FI

Like with any mechanical job it's up to you to look at it and see for your self what needs to be done. The bar doesn't have to be removed but it probably makes it a whole lot easier to remove the tranny. Don't forget to resurface your flywheel, change both bareings and the oil seal.
