What is the easiest way to get at tranny out of a 1990 Honda Civic for clutch change. Not easy.?

Hanes manual not very good on this and the shift linkage pin will not come out so I am going to have to disconnect from shift lever... I have never had so much trouble pulling a tranny in my life !!

One of my favorite clutches to do. The trans comes out the bottom on the right, but you already know that. Knock that pin out with a punch, after you remove the little spring clip over it, it should drive right out from the bottom up. If it's rusted in too badly, drill it out and replace it. Reason being, you have to disconnect that link, especially if you are not on a lift, since the easiest way to get the trans in and out is to pull it away from the engine about 1/2 inch and roll the back down 90 degrees. That way, you don't even have to remove the radius rod to the lower control arm. The book calls for 4.5 hours for this job, I routinely do them in under 2. Be sure to refill the trans when you are done. The fill plug has a 17 mm head, and is right next to where the right cv axle goes in to the trans. It takes 10w30 engine oil, about 2 quarts.

i own a repair shop, and no matter how you look at it ,theirs no easy way to remove it,you need a lot of good tools, and a good dry place to do it in,and a good transmission jack also ,and a good helper its a hard job to do ,no matter who does it,all i can tell you is take your time getting it in and out and make sure that you have the flywheel re-surfaced when you do this other wise your just wasting your time on doing it,,good luck,i hope this help,s.
