When changing gears in a manual car, whats the best technique to get from first to second?

For example,

I'm in first, say 4000rpm,

Clutch in full same time foot of accelerator.

change gear...

Clutch out and accelerator in at the same time?

Do i just take my foot off the clutch quickly, then put accelerator on?

Do I take my foot slowly off the clutch whilst giving it little bit of gas?

Well?

I just don't know..

PS: I'm in a 20 yr old ford sedan...

let off gas push pedal pull shifter and should do all this at once time in about a second or two then let off pedal give gas your done or ready for third.. but heres some links and if you reallly want you could try yourtube and search for how to shift a manual and get a video

You have to meet ends here.. when the clutch is engaged fully, accelerator is off completely, vice versa.. Learn to meet in the middle to matter how sloppy the clutch is in the 20 year old and you'll do fine.
Well, if you leave your foot on the accelerator while the clutch is in, you'll burn excess fuel, and find the engine revving a little overmuch. Obviously, this is for a very short time, so I don't think it makes a huge difference, but I have a tendency to let off the gas while I have the clutch engaged.

Every car and every transmission are different. You'll probably need to play with this one a little bit, until you find the %26quot;sweet spot%26quot; with each pedal that will tell you how the car wants to be driven.
Well thats a tough one

To do it smoothly is not something you can accurately describe in a few words , but I suggest

Clutch in %26amp; foot of the accelerator

Change Gear

Clutch out not fast (don't dump)but not slow whilst gently depressing the accelerator

If the car Kangaroos at that make only minor changes till you get it right , try and maintain the same release speed of the clutch just marginally vary your revs

(i did not think fords lasted that long)
use the clutch pedal and move the gear stick into the 2 position
